Beijing, June 12 /Xin Hua/ — On June 10-11, events were held in Sunke County /Heihe City, Heilongjiang Province, Northeast China/ as part of the China-Russia scientific, popular, and cultural exchanges among teenagers. More than 240 young representatives from both countries participated. This was reported by the information agency “Chung Sin She” on its official website.

The program included ecological observations, an introduction to the traditional culture of national minorities, traditional types of sports, and a visit to the scientific and technical museum. The main venues were located at the Center for Natural Science Education and at the National School of the Sunke County.

After a detailed acquaintance with samples of plants, insect collections, and geological minerals of the forest ecosystem at the Center for Natural Science Education, one of the Russian participants shared impressions: the variety of exhibits impressed him, here you can learn a lot.

In the ethnographic exhibition hall of the National Secondary School of the Suonke County, Chinese and Russian teenagers jointly viewed the manufacturing and household items, traditional clothing, and crafts of the northern national minorities in China, such as the Oroqen and Daur. Under the guidance of Chinese friends, the young Russian guests tried their hand at cutting patterns from paper and hand-painting motifs inspired by Chinese painting.

In addition, teenagers from two countries participated in traditional sports games and visited the youth center and the science and technology museum in the Sunke county. One of the Russian teachers noted that such popular science exchanges are very meaningful: children learn, playing, reflecting through experience, and thus the spark of a scientific dream is ignited.

The event took place under the auspices of the Year of China-Russia Cooperation in the field of education and became an important practice in the field of scientific and popular cooperation among teenagers from the two countries. The organizers were the Department of Science and Technology of Heilongjiang Province, as well as local authorities – the Department of Science and Technology of the city of Harbin, the People’s Government of Sunke County, and the Heilongjiang Center for International Scientific and Technological Cooperation.
