In the city of Wuxi in Jiangsu Province in eastern China, the head of the foreign marketing department of Yadea, Wan Hao, has recently been literally overwhelmed: foreign business trips follow one after another, and orders from abroad arrive continuously. Customers need only one thing as well – electric motorcycles made in China.
Not requiring fuel, light and compact, with good speed and range indicators — these electric two-wheeled vehicles, already widely spread on the streets of China, are now causing a real sensation in foreign markets against the backdrop of a tense situation with international energy supplies and rising oil prices.
According to Van Hao, Yadea products are exported to more than 100 countries and regions worldwide. In a number of Southeast Asian countries, the company has established localized production, while in many European countries it has created a network of sales and after-sales service. In the first quarter of this year, the company’s overseas sales grew by 70% compared to the same period last year.
“Taking into account the rainy European weather and the complex road conditions in cities and suburbs of Latin America, we adapt the product design, equipping it with numerous intelligent components, while maintaining a high price-to-quality ratio,” said Van Hao.
On foreign social platforms, many bloggers post videos showing the Chinese electric motorcycles and electric scooters they purchased online. These clips gather hundreds of thousands of views. The footage features American high school seniors rushing to classes on electric scooters, food delivery couriers from Southeast Asian countries, and young people riding through the streets of Paris.
Figures confirm this boom. In 2025, Chinese exports of electric wheeled vehicles exceeded 26.7 million units, with export volume reaching 6.829 billion US dollars. In the first quarter of 2026, about 7.2 million units were exported, which is 68.2% more compared to the same period of the previous year.
Industry experts note that recently, trends such as the tense situation with global energy supplies, high oil prices, the global trend towards electrification of transport, and an increasingly widespread understanding of the necessity to reduce carbon emissions contribute to the growth in demand for Chinese electric motorcycles and electric bicycles abroad.
A strong manufacturing chain is worth noting due to the high demand for Chinese electric two-wheeled vehicles. For example, in the Xishan district of Wuxi city, where the company Yadea is located, the majority of well-known Chinese manufacturers of this technology are concentrated within a 50-kilometer radius. More than 15 million units of electric two-wheeled vehicles are produced here annually. This is the largest base in the country for the development and production of finished products, as well as a center for component supplies.
“Chinese electric motorcycles in the global market demonstrate the international competitiveness of China’s new energy industry,” said Han Xian, professor at the business school of Nanjing University. He added that Chinese production shows the ability for deep integration of technologies, products, and services, as well as revealing potential in the field of innovations and brands.
