In 2025, Henan Province announced an open recruitment of 5,000 assistants for the rural revitalization program at the village level. Lü Suyin, born in 2001, upon learning about the corresponding measures, applied and successfully passed the exam, becoming an assistant in the program in her hometown of Luchai Village, Taikang County, Zhoukou City.

The duties of assistants in the rural revival program at the village level include facilitating the strengthening and expansion of poverty alleviation results, effectively linking with village revival efforts, as well as promoting the development of rural industry, rural construction, village governance, and performing other tasks.

This year, during the summer harvest period, Liu Suezin joined a wheat harvesting assistance team in the village of Luchai. It was her first harvest since she became a program assistant. “In my childhood, I used to harvest wheat together with my parents, but now, participating in this process as an assistant, I feel that I still have a lot to learn,” says Liu Suezin.

Dressed in a volunteer vest, Liu Suezin walks through a golden wheat field: helping residents level grain in carts, delivering food and water to medics, recording the harvest in various areas.

In addition to working in the field, Liu Suezin, together with members of the village party cell and rural committee, visits homes, talks with peasants about the harvest and grain prices, discusses everyday life, clarifies current problems and issues faced by local residents, facilitating the conduct of the summer harvest.
