Nanning, June 11 /Xinhua/ — Seven people died and 17 others were injured as a result of an explosion that occurred Thursday morning in the Sinan County of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region /Southern China/. Local authorities reported this.

As of 18:00 on Thursday, seven victims received treatment in Sin’an County, and their vital signs were stable. Another 10 people, including five patients with severe injuries and five with minor injuries, were transferred to Guilin City, Guangxi-Zhuang Autonomous Region. After receiving medical assistance, they all stabilized.

More than 300 people, including over 50 work groups, were sent to thoroughly inspect the blast zone and adjacent territories for victims and material damage.

Preliminary inspection showed that water supply, gas supply, and communication are operating normally. The power transmission lines were damaged; currently, temporary power supply is provided, and repair work is underway. A safety assessment of the buildings is being conducted, and all people have been evacuated.

Authorities have set up 40 tents for accommodating the victims, as well as organized temporary housing in a nearby hotel.

An investigation into the causes of the incident is underway. –0–
