Beijing, June 11 /Xin Hua/ — According to a report published on Thursday by the Press Office of the State Council of the PRC, China will continue to improve mechanisms for protecting the civil and political rights of the people.
In the National Action Plan in the field of human rights /2026-2030/, published at the opening ceremony of the High-Level Forum on Global Governance in the field of human rights 2026, the directions of China’s activities to protect human rights for the next five years have been defined.
The document notes that China will continue to raise the level of institutionalization, regulation, and proceduralization of the all-encompassing people’s democracy, expand the orderly participation of the people in the political process and political life, guarantee the people’s right to participate in democratic elections, democratic consultations, the democratic formulation and adoption of decisions, democratic governance, and democratic supervision in accordance with the law.
China will also continue to ensure broad rights and freedoms for the people in accordance with the law, strengthen the legal framework in the field of human rights, guarantee respect for and the provision of human rights at all stages and in all processes and aspects of legislation, law enforcement, justice, and law observance, according to the plan of action. -0-
