Kampala, June 11 /Xinhua/ — The Ministry of Health of Uganda announced on Wednesday additional measures for the prevention of Ebola, aimed at containing the possible spread of the disease.
Speaking after the national address by Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni on the Ebola outbreak, Minister of Health Chris Baryomunsi stated that the recommendations for virus prevention had been disseminated to all districts bordering the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo — the epicenter of the current outbreak.
According to K. Bariomunshi, mass events, including weddings and fairs, were suspended, and schools were recommended to strictly follow the preventive guidelines of the Ministry of Health.
According to the ministry, no new cases of Ebola have been registered in Uganda over the past five days. Currently, a total of 19 confirmed cases have been registered in the country, with two patients having died. –0–
