Moscow, June 9 /Xin Hua/ — The mutual tourist flow between Russia and China in the first quarter of 2026 amounted to nearly 1 million trips. This was reported on Tuesday by the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation with reference to the head of the department Maksim Reshetnikov.

“Russia and China consistently strengthen cooperation in the field of tourism, expand humanitarian ties, and create new opportunities for mutual travel. An important decision for this was China’s extension of the visa-free regime,” noted M. Reshetnikov.

Earlier at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko said that as a result of the first quarter, the flow of Russian tourists to China increased by 60%, while Chinese tourists to Russia increased by 25%. By the end of 2026, the mutual tourist flow between the two countries may amount to about 6 million trips.

In 2025, China and Russia introduced a mutual visa-free regime for trips of up to 30 days. In May 2026, during an official visit of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to China, the Chinese side announced the extension of this regime for Russians until December 31, 2027. –0–
