The event was attended by Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov, head of Rosobrnadzor Anzor Muzaev, Deputy Minister of Education Olga Koludarova, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education Olga Petrova, head of the educational foundation “Talent and Success” Elena Shmelyova, rector of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) Dmitry Livanov, regional education ministers, representatives of other departments and educational institutions.

Dmitry Chernyshenko noted that another cycle of the All-Russian School Olympiad for the 2025/2026 academic year has been completed, which is held in 24 subjects across four stages.

“The most massive intellectual competition in our country – the All-Russian School Olympiad – is being improved for even more effective support of talents. The final stage of this year’s Olympiad took place in 13 regions of Russia and on the federal territory ‘Sirius.’ More than 8 thousand students participated in it, and the number of participations exceeded 9 thousand. More than 4 thousand children became winners and prize-winners. Congratulations to the children! Importantly, some of them have been included in teams for international Olympiads. According to the results of participation in such Olympiads, Russia is among the top three strongest,” said the vice-premier.

The Deputy Prime Minister proposed that the “Talent and Success” fund become the center for collecting and processing feedback on the conduct of the All-Russian School Olympiad (VSOSH). As Dmitry Chernyshenko noted, the importance of taking citizen feedback into account is regularly emphasized by President Vladimir Putin.

Also, at the meeting, they discussed the possibility of adjusting the disciplines conducted by the International School Olympiad (ISO). The Deputy Prime Minister proposed creating an expert council with authoritative participants to assess the necessity of adding or excluding a number of directions. He paid special attention to the preparation of an information-analytical panel for collecting operational information about the Olympiad – it will help in making managerial decisions.

In addition, at the meeting to improve the quality of selection, decisions were made: to recognize the results of rechecks carried out by the central subject-methodological commission of the olympiad works of participants of the regional stage of the olympiad as mandatory; to deprive the participant who violated the rules of the right to further participation in the olympiad in all general education subjects for which the olympiad is held in the current academic year.

Sergey Kravtsov described in detail the results of conducting the All-Russian School Olympiad (VSOSh) in the 2025/2026 academic year and the preparation of an information-analytical panel for collecting operational information about the Olympiad – in accordance with the assignment from Dmitry Chernyshenko, it should be developed by September 2026.

“It is very important that at the All-Russian and international Olympiads, the winners are not only kids from the capital, but also from other regions of our country. The All-Russian schoolchildren’s Olympiad has long held the status of the most massive Olympiad. In the 2025/2026 academic year, the number of participants exceeded 8 million. The largest number of participants this year was in mathematics; it exceeded almost one million people. In third place in popularity is biology. Informatics, physics, and chemistry are also of great interest,” noted Sergey Kravtsov.

The Minister of Education added that at the final stage, the most numerous event this year was the informatics Olympiad. More than a thousand schoolchildren from 77 regions of our country took part in it.

With proposals for improving the procedure for conducting the All-Russian Olympiad, the head of the educational foundation “Talent and Success” Elena Shmelyova, Deputy Minister of Education Olga Koludarova, and Rector of MFTI Dmitry Livanov spoke.

Thanks to the changes adopted in 2025, the geography of the winners and prize-winners of the All-Russian School Olympiad (ВСОШ) has expanded, the number of complaints has decreased, and the number of absentees in the final has also decreased.

Let us note that the All-Russian Schoolchildren’s Olympiad is held annually and is a prestigious intellectual competition in Russia. The organizer of the All-Russian Schoolchildren’s Olympiad is the Ministry of Education. The competition includes school, municipal, regional, and final stages.

Diplomas of winners and prize-winners of the Olympiad are valid for four years. They grant the right to enter leading Russian universities without entrance exams in the corresponding field. Winners and prize-winners of the final stage of the All-Russian School Olympiad can participate in training and preparatory camps for the selection and formation of national teams for participation in international Olympiads.
