Beijing, June 9 /Xin Hua/ — In May, the export of new energy passenger cars from China increased by 112.6 percent year-on-year to 424 thousand units. This is evidenced by data from the China Association of Passenger Cars (CPCA), published on Monday.
According to the data, in May the export of this type of cars from China increased by 4.4 percent month-on-month. This indicator accounted for 54.1 percent of the total export volume of passenger cars of the country in the previous month, which is 9.5 percentage points higher than in May 2025.
Export has become the main driver of growth in China’s automotive sector amid weak domestic consumption in the market as a whole. Chinese automakers are increasingly developing such overseas markets as Latin America and Europe, which helps compensate for the decline in demand in the Middle East and supports stable growth in automobile export volumes, the PRC reported.
Thanks to the developed supply chain and the growing competitiveness of electric vehicles in China, automobile exports continue to remain at a high level and all categories are being modernized, which supports the overall stability of the industry.
The SLSA reported that the impetus for a broader recovery of China’s automotive market will remain limited in June, and it is expected that the industry will maintain a moderate recovery trend. -0-
