Beijing, June 8 /Xinhua/ — Currently, the relations between China and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) are entering a new historical stage, new opportunities for development are opening up, and new contemporary tasks are being set. This is stated in an article by the General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, Chairman of the DPRK Xi Jinping, published in the DPRK’s main newspaper “Rodong Sinmun” on the eve of his state visit to the country on June 8 and 9.
This is the first visit of the Chinese leader to the DPRK in the last seven years.
Xi Jinping noted that maintaining, strengthening, and developing China-North Korea relations has always been an unchanging policy of the CPC and the Chinese government. China is ready to cooperate with the DPRK to guide bilateral relations taking into account strategic interests, ensure their timeliness and strive for further development, the Chinese leader added.
He stated that both sides should deepen strategic interaction and firmly guide Sino-North Korean relations onto the right track, calling for maintaining the glorious tradition of high-level contacts between the two parties and the two countries, as well as sustaining close ties, like those between relatives.
In his opinion, the parties should take advantage of the 65th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the Commonwealth of Independent States Participating States (CISPS) as an opportunity to strengthen exchanges at all levels, including between party, governmental, and military structures, implementation of the important consensus reached by the parties, and to give a new impetus to the development of bilateral relations.
Xi Jinping indicated that both countries should strengthen exchanges and mutual borrowing for jointly promoting the sustainable development of the socialist cause of both countries.
China and the DPRK must support each other in following the socialist path in accordance with national conditions, resolutely protect the political security of both countries, continue to expand exchanges and cooperation between the two parties, and also deepen the exchange of experience and mutual borrowing in the field of party and state governance, Xi Jinping stated.
He also noted that China and the DPRK should expand practical cooperation and steadily strengthen the well-being and friendship of the peoples of the two countries, enhance the coordination of development strategies, utilize the potential of cooperation in various fields, share opportunities, and jointly promote development for the benefit of both peoples.
Si Jinping also called for close multilateral coordination and a firm defense of international justice and law.
China and the CIS apparently need to strengthen strategic interaction and coordination, jointly defending the international system with the UN as its core and the international order based on international law. Both sides must also oppose hegemonism and power politics, reject any attempts or actions aimed at the revival of militarism and undermining regional security and stability.
The Chairman also emphasized that both countries should jointly contribute to the formation of an equal and orderly multipolar world, as well as a beneficial and inclusive economic globalization, to implement the four global initiatives put forward by China, and through joint efforts build a community with a shared future for humanity. –0–
