Pushkin Day in Russia – the Day of the Russian Language is celebrated annually on the birthday of A.S. Pushkin, June 6.

Please accept my congratulations on Pushkin Day of Russia.
This holiday was established as a sign of deep respect for the great poet – the founder of the modern Russian literary language. His work has become an integral part of the world’s cultural heritage.
One of the richest languages in the world — Russian — is a national treasure and one of the key instruments of international communication. It unites all those living in our country, millions of compatriots abroad, and those who speak it, study it, grasp its amazing beauty, depth, and expressiveness. This is an opportunity to touch the treasures of world-famous works of art, literature, and science, to feel the connection with millennia of history and the Russian world.
Today our main task is to preserve the native language, its uniqueness and versatility for future generations. To improve teaching methods in schools and universities, raise the level of literacy and speech culture, and use advanced technologies for its popularization.
