Beirut, June 6 /Xinhua/ — Lebanese President Joseph Aoun on Saturday strongly condemned Israel’s attack on a Lebanese army patrol on the Hardali-Nabatiya highway, which resulted in the deaths of two officers and one soldier.

J. Aoun called the incident a blatant violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty as well as international laws and norms. According to him, the attack is part of an ongoing escalation by Israel, which threatens the stability and security of southern Lebanon, despite Beirut’s efforts in negotiations in Washington aimed at stopping the continuing Israeli attacks.

The president of the republic noted that the fallen servicemen have added to a long list of military and civilian casualties, including children, women, medics, rescuers, and journalists, who died as a result of Israeli attacks.

He expressed condolences to the command of the Lebanese army and the families of the deceased, highly appreciating the self-sacrifice of officers, soldiers, and other servicemen who gave their lives defending the country and its sovereignty.
