Mexico, June 5 /Xin Hua/ — On Friday evening, a power outage occurred across Jamaica due to a system failure. This was reported by representatives of the country’s authorities and the energy company.
“Power outage across the entire island,” wrote the Minister of Energy, Telecommunications and Transport, Daryl Vaz, on social media. He added that news is expected from the president of the company Jamaica Public Service /JPS/, who was on his way to the company’s emergency response center.
Local CMS reported interruptions in electricity supply in several districts, which affected the power supply of many areas.
Shortly after the post, D. Vaza stated on social networks that measures are being taken to restore power “step by step and in accordance with the pre-established plan.”
