Beijing, June 6 /Xinhua/ — The Eastern Theater Command of the People’s Liberation Army of China (PLA ETCC) has organized forces to track and monitor the Dutch frigate HNLMS De Ruyter throughout its passage through the Taiwan Strait, official spokesman of the PLA ETCC Xu Qianhua reported on Friday.

Sui Chenhua stated that the command promptly reacted to the incident with the frigate, adding that the PLA Navy will constantly remain in a state of heightened readiness to firmly defend national sovereignty and security, as well as maintain peace and stability in the region.

Before passing through the Taiwan Strait, the frigate HNLMS De Ruyter illegally entered the waters of the Chinese Xisha Islands in the South China Sea and carried out a series of operations using a deck helicopter, violating the airspace of the PRC.
