Beijing, June 5 /Xinhua/ — The chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC) of China, Zhao Leji, on Friday held a meeting in Beijing with the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and President of Laos, Thongloun Sisoulith, during which the sides committed to deepening exchanges in the legislative field.
Zhao Lezi, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, stated that under the strategic leadership of the heads of state, China-Laos relations are currently developing in the best period in history.
China intends to work with Laos on the implementation of strategic agreements between the top leaders of both parties and countries, and to jointly build a Chinese-Laotian community with a shared future, characterized by high standards, high quality, and a high level, said Zhao Lezi.
Chjao Leczi added that the UNPF is ready to deepen multi-level and multi-sectoral cooperation with the National Assembly / unicameral parliament / of Laos, to carry out exchanges in the field of building a rule-of-law state and legislative activity, and to ensure legal guarantees for the modernization of both countries.
Thongloun Sisoulith, for his part, stressed that regardless of changes in the international situation, the process of building the Laos-China community of shared destiny will continue to strengthen and develop. He expressed hope that the legislative bodies of both countries will deepen contacts in areas such as legislative work, to contribute to advancing ties between Laos and China.
