Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University continues to develop scientific and educational cooperation with universities of nearby foreign countries. The delegation of SPbPU visited the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation Engineers and Agricultural Mechanization (TIIAME) at the invitation of the Department of “Mechanization of Hydraulic Engineering Works” of the Faculty of Hydraulic Engineering.
The delegation included Associate Professor Dmitry Plotnikov from the Higher School of Transport at IMMIT and Senior Lecturer at the Higher School of Transport at IMMIT, research fellow of the Research Laboratory “System Dynamics” Ausra Banite.
The purpose of the visit was the implementation of an educational module that includes practical classes on modeling production, transport, and warehouse processes using the AnyLogic software system — a modern multifunctional simulation platform widely used in logistics, supply chain management, and production planning. The classes were organized within the master’s program “Mechanization of Land Reclamation Works” in the discipline “Engineering Logistics and Modeling.”
The head of the department “Hydromelioration Work Organization” Begmat Norov presented the guests with brief information about the university. The parties analyzed the current state and the achieved results of inter-university cooperation. In turn, representatives of the Polytechnic acquainted themselves with the department’s team and spoke about the activities of the Higher School of Transport and the “System Dynamics” laboratory.
Special attention was paid to scientific results that can be applied in various sectors of the national economy. Dmitry Plotnikov and Aushra Banite shared new approaches to remote control of material flows and the technical condition of water management facilities, taking into account the conditions of Uzbekistan.
Graduate students of TIIMS received a unique opportunity to consolidate theoretical knowledge in online mode and immerse themselves in modern modeling tools that allow analyzing and optimizing supply chains.
Politicians clearly demonstrated the capabilities of simulation modeling. It helps manage material flows. For example, for cargo transportation, production capacity assessment, resource allocation, and the construction of logistic models. Master’s students actively participated in the sessions, creating their own models and solving real business scenarios.
Within the framework of the meeting of the delegation with the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Bastian Aliovich Khudayarov, key issues of the introduction of digital technologies into the educational process, the importance of modeling logistics processes in the production sphere, as well as prospects for opening a joint educational program “Digital Logistics” based on TIIMSH, were considered. In addition, the participants discussed the organization of bilateral qualification improvement and the development of academic mobility.
Based on the results of the visit, directions for further cooperation were determined, as well as a roadmap for the development of mutual interaction between universities was developed.
