Tehran, April 4 /Xinhua/ — The Iranian army confirmed that its air defense systems shot down an American A-10 ground attack aircraft /”Warthog”/ on Friday over the southern waters of Iran near the Strait of Hormuz, after which the plane crashed into the Persian Gulf.

This statement, published on the army’s website, was made shortly after the Corps of the Guardians of the Islamic Revolution of Iran announced that earlier on the same day it had shot down an American F-35 fighter jet in the country’s central airspace.

Late on Friday, the Iranian semi-official news agency Mehr reported that the American Black Hawk helicopter was also shot down in the airspace of Iran while searching for the pilot of the downed American fighter jet.
