At the 29th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), the capital presented achievements of Moscow transport. At the Moscow Government’s stand, forum participants can familiarize themselves with major projects for the development of the city’s rail framework and see what urban transport will become in the coming years.

“We continue to actively develop the city’s rail framework, increasing accessibility, speed, and comfort of trips for millions of capital residents. Today, more than 90 percent of Muscovites live near metro stations, the Moscow Central Circle (MCC), and the Moscow Central Diameters (MCD). By 2030, this figure will increase to 93 percent, and the total number of stations will exceed 500. The new Moscow tram diameters have also helped improve the architecture of the rail framework. At the same time, the Moscow metro remains the main transport system of the capital and the most popular type of urban transport.”Every day during working hours, more than eight million trips are made here, and in the last 10 years, the number has exceeded 23 billion,” said the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.

Maksim Liksutov.

Since 2010, the number of metro stations, MCC, and MCD has increased from 182 to 444. During the same period, the high-speed rail transport network grew by 2.4 times. The rolling stock is being actively updated: already 80 percent of the trains operating on the metro are new.

The MCC and four Moscow central diameters, on which passengers make a total of more than two million trips daily, have been launched. Moscow tram diameters T1 and T2, organized according to the principle of an above-ground street metro, are also operating successfully. By 2030, the capital plans to open two new metro lines — the Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya and Biryulevskaya.
