The final of the professional skills contest “Moscow Masters” in the specialty “Cook” took place in the capital on June 3. On this day, 11 winners of the qualifying stages, which were held in each administrative district, met in the culinary studio.

The theme of the competition this year is “Moscow — the port of five seas.” For several hours, participants had to prepare a lunch from fish, including a salad or appetizer, soup, and a main course with a side dish.

“Moscow is not located directly by the sea, but it can rightfully be considered a port of five seas: the capital has many restaurants and cafes, where chefs daily create the most delicious and healthy dishes from fish and seafood. Interest in such products is growing every day, and Moscow culinary experts amaze residents with new gastronomic combinations: now fish can be found on the menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner,” noted the organizers.

The works of the contestants were evaluated by a jury, which included professionals: industry leaders in public catering, winners and laureates of awards and competitions. The judges paid attention to the organization of the workplace, the consistency of the technological processes of cooking dishes, the work with products, and the final presentation.

On the day of the event, the winners were awarded medals, cups, and diplomas. The first place and the cash prize of 300 thousand rubles were received by Valery Tsoi, head chef of the restaurant “Sitoria”.

“I am very glad to win, especially because I did not expect this to happen: the competition was a difficult test for me, but I managed to accomplish what I intended. Participation, and moreover, victory in such an event, very much motivates me not only to continue doing what I love, but also to constantly improve,” he said.

Anton Kalatuyin, the head chef of the restaurant Ziamo, became the silver prize winner and received 200 thousand rubles, while Maksim Sutenkov, the head chef of the café “Culinary Shop of the Karavaev Brothers” on Vernadsky Prospect, received the bronze award and 150 thousand rubles.

The traditional award ceremony will take place on the eve of City Day. The contest winners are awarded the title “Moscow Master” and are given cash grants from the Moscow Government.
