Almaty, June 4 /Xin Hua/ — The national maritime carrier of Kazakhstan, “Kazmortransflot” (KMTF), reached record transportation volumes in May 2026 for the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TMTIR), connecting Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. This was reported by the press service of the national oil and gas company “KazMunayGas” (KMG) on Wednesday.

The volume of shipments along the route from the Western Kazakhstani port of Aktau to the seaport of Alyat near Baku last month amounted to 7,451 containers in twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU).

A high result is ensured through the effective distribution of cargo flow among the engaged vessels, which allowed for an increase in the intensity of ship traffic between ports, according to the statement.

KMTF is the official maritime carrier on the TMTM. Since 2019, the company has transported more than 210 thousand tons by its own forces. FEZ between the ports of Aktau and Alyat, which is equivalent to about 2.7 million tons of cargo, was noted at KMG.

TMTC connects China, Kazakhstan, the Caucasus countries, Turkey, and European markets and is considered one of the key transport corridors between Asia and Europe.
