Berlin, June 3 /Xin Hua/ — Representatives of the US Department of Defense informed allies that the United States is “optimizing” its contribution to the NATO forces model. This was reported on Wednesday by the US European Command /USEUCOM/.

As reported in the USEUCOM statement, this step is aimed at coordinating with the U.S. National Defense Strategy for 2026 and the Pentagon’s “NATO 3.0” concept.

“An unhealthy dependence on American troops has developed in the NATO force model,” noted USEUCOM commander Alexus Grinkevich in his statement, pointing out that the potential reality of simultaneous conflicts in several theaters of military operations requires change.

According to A. Grinkevich, Washington expects that Canada and European countries will soon increase their efforts to compensate for the reduction of American potential, specifically in terms of providing piloted and unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as warships.

It is expected that pressure on Europe with the aim of taking a greater share of the defense burden will be at the center of NATO’s attention ahead of the upcoming alliance summit scheduled for July in Ankara.
