Almaty, June 3 /Xin Hua/ – The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development /EBRD/ forecasts a slowdown in the growth of Kazakhstan’s real GDP to 4.7 percent in 2026. This is stated in the bank’s June report on the region’s economic outlook, published on Wednesday.

According to the report, in January-March 2026, Kazakhstan’s economic growth slowed to 3 percent annually compared to 5.6 percent a year earlier amid disruptions in the oil sector, which put pressure on production volumes.

Construction, transport and processing industries showed positive dynamics, while the extractive sector decreased by 11.4% year-on-year due to disruptions in the operation of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium /CPC/ and an incident at the Tengiz oil field. Recovery is expected by the end of the current year.

Key risks for the economy remain, in particular, the volatility of oil prices, possible further disruptions in the operation of KTK and other export routes. According to the forecast of analysts at EBRD, in 2027 the growth of Kazakhstan’s economy will be 4.5 percent.

Kazakhstan’s economy grew by 6.5% in 2025, as a result of which the country’s GDP exceeded 300 billion US dollars for the first time. The government has set a goal to maintain annual growth rates at the level of 5-6% in the coming years and increase GDP to 450 billion dollars by 2029.
