Almost seven thousand capital city schoolchildren became winners and prize-winners of the Moscow intersubject skills and knowledge competition “Intellectual Megapolis. Potential.” This competition has the status of a pre-professional exam, so laureates receive up to 10 points added to the results of the Unified State Exam when entering universities. The total number of participants from 43 cities of Russia exceeded 26 thousand people. This was reported by the press service of the capital city.Department of Education and Science.
“This year, schoolchildren competed in seven profiles: engineering, IT, medical, entrepreneurial, media, psycho-pedagogical, and cadet. The most popular by number of participants were engineering (over 5.8 thousand), entrepreneurial (5.5 thousand), and IT (5.4 thousand),” the department’s press service noted.
The competition consisted of theoretical and practical parts. The first part was completed by senior students from the capital at school, the second part at the university. Students from other cities took the exam remotely.
The kids solved tasks compiled by experts from 36 leading specialized universities. In total, about six thousand tasks were developed for them. The best results were demonstrated by students of the medical field. Among them were 649 winners and 1850 prize-winners. The kids showed on a mannequin how to bring a person to consciousness loss and stop bleeding.
Future engineers designed 3D electromagnetic nodes for aviation and space systems, IT-class graduates neutralized malicious programs and developed robot control algorithms.
Students from entrepreneurial classes calculated economic indicators for starting a startup, while students from media classes developed the concept of a socially significant project and a content plan.
The “Intellectual Megapolis. Potential” competition has been held annually in the city since 2021. It is organized by the Moscow Center for Educational Quality of the capital’s Department of Education and Science.
The number of additional points for admission, which are awarded to prize-winners and winners of the competition, can be found onofficial website. The rules and calculation of higher education institutions are established independently.

The largest number of children attend programs in engineering (12.2 thousand people), entrepreneurship (11.4 thousand), and IT classes (10.4 thousand).
