Moscow, June 2 /Xin Hua/ — Russia and the USA held an expert dialogue a week ago on eliminating “irritants” in bilateral relations, thanks to which it was possible to stabilize the functioning of diplomatic missions of the two countries. This was reported on Tuesday by RIA Novosti with reference to the director of the Department of the North Atlantic of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Alexander Gusarov.
“There are results, and they are tangible. The main thing is that it was possible to stabilize the overall satisfactory level of functioning of the Russian and US foreign establishments, preventing a fatal failure… Nevertheless, against the backdrop of numerous unresolved tasks, the tip of the iceberg has not yet been touched,” emphasized A. Gusarov.
As noted by the Russian diplomat, after the change of administration in Washington, there appeared a tendency in the American leadership to revise the “extremely confrontational and ideologized positions” of the previous Joseph Biden administration, which seemed to have positively affected the state of Russian-American relations that began to show a restorative dynamic.
“The dialogue between the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the U.S. State Department to eliminate ‘irritants’ does not cease and is conducted at the level of specialized experts on a regular, systemic basis,” added A. Gusarov. –0–
