Beijing, June 2 /Xinhua/ — Both shores of the Taiwan Strait belong to the same China. All Chinese on both shores of the strait share a common responsibility to defend the territorial sovereignty, maritime rights and interests of the country, official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC Mao Ning declared on Tuesday.
A Chinese diplomat made this statement at another press conference, commenting on the request from the media to confirm the so-called talks on the delimitation of maritime boundaries between Japan and the Philippines by the Taiwanese authorities. As previously announced by the specified countries, they will conduct a delimitation of the maritime area to the east of Taiwan Island.
