At the Institute of Industrial Management, Economics and Trade of SPbPU, the 10th All-Russian Scientific-Practical and Educational-Methodical Conference “Fundamental and Applied Research in the Field of Management, Economics and Trade” took place. Over the years of its existence, the conference has become one of the largest scientific subject platforms, uniting representatives of the academic community, young researchers, and industrial partners.
In 2026, the participants of the conference were representatives of 37 universities from 14 cities of Russia, as well as researchers and lecturers from Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, and Vietnam. The best studies were presented at sectional sessions dedicated to topical issues of economics, digital transformation, industrial management, statistics, quality management, international cooperation, and the development of modern educational technologies.
The central event of the conference was the plenary session. The director of IPMEIT, Vladimir Shchepinin, addressed the participants with a welcoming word: Over ten years, the conference has become an important scientific platform that unites researchers, educators, young scientists, and representatives of the professional community from various regions of Russia and friendly countries. For us, it is especially important that interest in the conference grows annually, and its participants form new scientific connections, exchange experiences, and create a basis for joint research and educational projects.Today, IPMEIT continues to strengthen the traditions of the scientific school, develop interdisciplinary research, and support young scientists, as it is precisely the integration of science, education, and practice that forms a modern intellectual environment at the university.
The scientific discourse of the plenary session was dedicated to the topic “Integration of Science and Education: Scientific and Pedagogical Schools of ISMEIT.” The moderator of the plenary session was Professor of the Higher Engineering and Economic School, Head of the Laboratory “Digital Economy of Industry,” Alexander Babkin. Speakers were the heads of scientific and pedagogical schools.
Today, the scientific and pedagogical schools of IPMEPh is not only the foundation of the Institute’s scientific research, but also the basis for training a new generation of researchers, teachers, and managers. It is especially important that at the conference we managed to unite representatives of various scientific fields, to demonstrate the continuity of scientific traditions and to discuss the contemporary challenges facing the economy, industry, and education system.Such platforms form a professional dialogue, contribute to the development of interdisciplinary research, and create conditions for the emergence of new scientific initiatives and joint projects, — noted Aleksandr Babkin.
The speakers touched on current issues of the formation and development of scientific and pedagogical schools, the training of scientific and pedagogical personnel, as well as the interaction between science and education. For many conference participants, the discussion became an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the main scientific directions of the institute and the prospects for the development of research activities at IPMEIT.
At the conclusion of the plenary session, Vladimir Shchepinin awarded the winners of scientific competitions organized within the framework of the conference. This year, participants competed in four areas: competition of scientific research papers by undergraduate students, competition of scientific research papers by master’s and specialist students, competition supporting scientific research by postgraduate students of IPMEIT, and competition supporting youth scientific groups of IPMEIT.
Participants of the competitions defended their scientific research papers before the jury. Undergraduate students competed according to their master’s degree fields, while specialist and master’s students competed according to the scientific specialties of postgraduate studies. The winners also added to their portfolio of achievements, which is taken into account when participating in other competitions and scholarship programs.
In the competition to support scientific research by graduate students, the key evaluation criterion was the scientific achievements of the participants. The best graduate students were determined for each year of study.
Within the framework of the competition to support youth scientific groups, the jury evaluated not only the existing scientific groundwork of the projects, but also the prospects for their further implementation and practical development. Two youth scientific groups won.
The winners received diplomas, commemorative gifts, and a one-time payment from the funds of the targeted capital “Economic Education” of the Endowment Fund of SPbPU.
A traditional part of the conference has been sectional meetings, thematically oriented towards the scientific and pedagogical schools of the institute. This year, the program was organized in such a way that the sections proceeded consecutively, which allowed participants to take part in several events at once and to familiarize themselves with the main research schools of IPMEIT.
The jubilee conference once again confirmed the status of IPMET as one of the country’s leading scientific and educational centers in the fields of economics, management, and applied research, as well as becoming an important platform for professional dialogue, exchange of experience, and the development of international scientific cooperation.
