Since 2023, more than 90 high-tech industrial enterprises in the city have opened their doors to Moscow schoolchildren from engineering classes. In the outgoing academic year, over 1,500 excursions were organized, reported the Minister of the Moscow Government, head of the Department of Investment and Industrial Policy.Anatoly Garbuzov

Within the framework of the project“Open#Mosprom”High school students are sent to factories in the aerospace, cable, light, food, chemical and other industries. Unlike tours conducted for a wide audience, excursions for schoolchildren have a practical orientation.

“The development of human resource potential is one of the priority tasks of Moscow’s industry. The city implements many initiatives aimed at popularizing technical professions and early career guidance. The “Open#Mosprom” project has already proven to be an effective tool for engaging youth in the capital’s industrial sector. In the 2025/2026 academic year, more than 1,500 excursions were organized for high school students from engineering classes to the city’s high-tech production sites.””The guys were able to learn about the breakthrough development and technology of the plants and the career prospects,” noted Anatoly Garbuzov.

For schoolchildren, excursions to operating industrial enterprises are an opportunity to get acquainted with the features of industrial professions, and for factories, an effective tool of personnel policy, a real way to engage the younger generation with technology. As Ara Ovsepyan, General Director of the company “Additive Engineering,” told us, the guys are shown the entire production cycle — from turning metal powder into a finished part, for example, the housing of an electronic device or a turbine blade, to the details of 3D scanning, reverse engineering, and post-processing.Holding in your hand a part just printed on an industrial 3D printer, physically feeling the technology is very important — a textbook cannot convey this. This experience helps make a conscious choice — students understand what awaits them in the profession, what tasks they will have to solve, and whether they truly have an interest in it.

During the visit to industrial sites, the guys get acquainted in detail with the production process, study modern technologies and equipment, and can also participate in master classes and ask questions to company employees. According to Artem Zhilonov, the general director of the company “Banking and Financial Systems”, such excursions provide an opportunity to show schoolchildren that modern technologies, industrial design, and world-class production exist here, in Moscow.Children can see how devices that millions of people use every day are created, get acquainted with engineering and IT professions, and perhaps for the first time think about their professional future. It is very important for children to understand: technology is not something distant, but a real opportunity to create the future with their own hands.

The “Open#Mosprom” project has been implemented in the capital since 2019 and unites more than 150 industrial sites of the city and about 10 different formats: excursions to operating enterprises, master classes, hackathons, quizzes, trivia games, lectures, and others. Events help schoolchildren and students with career guidance, and residents and guests of the capital to see how industrial technologies change the life of the metropolis.

In Moscow, engineering class students are being prepared as future specialists for high-tech manufacturing industries. Schoolchildren study mathematics, physics, and computer science in depth, undergo engineering practicum where they delve into theoretical mechanics, familiarize themselves with electromagnetic devices. The students study modern production technologies—they practice in robotics, 3D technology, work on various machines.
