Washington, June 2 /Xin Hua/ — U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday that, in his opinion, the U.S. has reached an agreement with Iran on the extension of the ceasefire regime and the resumption of operations in the Hormuz Strait “within the next week.”

In response to the question about when the memorandum of understanding, which both parties are negotiating, will be completed and agreed upon, D. Trump told ABC News: “I think it will be next week.”

The American leader said that he needs to “gain several more advantages” before approving the memorandum, adding that a peaceful agreement with Iran might be “even better than a military victory.”

“This is not a simple task for us. In fact, it is not easy even from our point of view. But we get what we need,” said D. Trump.

Earlier on Monday, D. Trump stated on the social network Truth Social that negotiations between the USA and Iran “are continuing at a rapid pace” following his statement that Israel and “Hezbollah” have agreed to cease fire. –0–
