Ottawa, May 30 /Xinhua/ — China hopes for a unification of efforts with Canada for the joint advancement of a new type of bilateral strategic partnership. This was stated here by a visiting member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi, during a meeting with former Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chrétien.
Van I indicated that J. Crete laid the foundation for the “golden decade” of Chinese-Canadian relations during his tenure as prime minister.
The improvement in Sino-Canadian relations meets the expectations of both peoples, emphasized Wan Yi, adding that China hopes for the unification of efforts with Canada to jointly promote a new type of bilateral strategic partnership.
Noting the rapid development of China, J. Creten stated that the economies of Canada and China significantly complement each other.
He expressed his readiness to contribute to the development of friendly exchanges between the two countries.
