Ottawa, May 30 /Xinhua/ — Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi agreed on Friday to deepen bilateral ties and support multilateralism.

M. Karni noted that Canada is ready to continue close exchanges with China at a high level, deepen cooperation in areas such as energy, finance, agriculture, and fisheries, and strengthen the foundation of bilateral relations.

According to the Prime Minister, Canada supports APEC in holding an informal meeting of leaders of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation and is ready to jointly defend and practice multilateralism to make a positive contribution to economic development, peace, and stability worldwide.

According to Van Ee, the facts have proven that the improvement of Chinese-Canadian relations meets the interests of both countries and is the right choice for Canada. The Minister emphasized that there is no fundamental conflict of interests between the two countries, and the possibilities for cooperation are enormous.

The parties must protect multilateralism, the international rule of law, and strategic autonomy, as well as support free trade and an open global economy, emphasized Van I.
