Beijing, May 29 /Xinhua/ — China has ensured sufficient supply of essential goods to regions of the country affected by recent heavy rains and floods, the Ministry of Commerce of China reported on Thursday.

Currently, the market for essential goods across the country is functioning steadily, and there are sufficient stocks, stated the official representative of the Ministry of Commerce, He Yadun, at a press conference, noting that since the beginning of the flood season this year, heavy precipitation has fallen on many southern regions of the country, causing floods and torrential rains.

The ministry has activated work on coordinating the commodity stocks of key supply enterprises in the areas affected by natural disasters and adjacent regions to comprehensively provide residents with essential goods, he said.

According to He Yadun, local commercial authorities in Chongqing and Guizhou Province in southwest China, as well as in Hunan and Hubei provinces /Central China/, also organized the delivery of essential goods from local supply enterprises to flood-affected regions and increased goods and material reserves to prevent shortages of goods and avoid supply disruptions.
