Hohhot, May 28 /Xinhua/ — The Ministry of Education of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region recently approved the application to establish the China-Russia Agro-Institute of the future Agrarian University of Inner Mongolia. This institute represents the first joint educational institution in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region /Northern China/ with the participation of a foreign university, the establishment of which was approved by the Ministry of Education of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
The joint institute will be established by the Agricultural University of Inner Mongolia and the Altai State Agricultural University in the city of Khuu-Khoto (administrative center of Inner Mongolia), according to a statement from the Department of Education of Inner Mongolia.
In this institute, within the framework of training, special attention will be given to the study of agriculture in conditions of cold and drought, protection of the ecological environment of steppes, modern animal husbandry, prevention of epidemics and their control, advanced Russian educational resources and mechanisms for the integration of production organizations, universities, and research institutes will be combined.
The new institute will offer three undergraduate programs – zoology, agronomy, and veterinary medicine. The planned enrollment for the first year in each program will be 100 students. In total, about 1300 students will be trained across all courses of this institute, with the duration of study in some programs lasting four years, and in others – five. The first student intake will take place this year.
Within the framework of training at this institute, students will undergo education in Russia for one year. Upon completion of their studies, students who successfully meet the university requirements will receive diplomas from both the Chinese and the Russian universities.
