The team of the Faculty of Forensic Expertise and Law in Construction and Transport at SPbGASU “Vector of Expertise” took part in the International Competition in Criminalistics and Forensic Expertise “Virtual Criminalist 2026”. As a result of the competition, our students took an honorable third place.
The competition was organized by the Siberian Legal Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and was held online using modern VR equipment “Virtual Criminalist.” Nine teams from Russian universities participated in the competition, as well as a team from Kyrgyzstan.
Our university presented a team of fourth-year students studying in the specialty “Forensic Expertise” (team captain –Renata Khazieva,participants –Maksim Semenov, Karina Liu-Lyan-Min, Anastasia SavintsevaиIgor Stepanov).
Participation in the competition contributed to the development of skills such as effective use of virtual reality for solving forensic tasks, construction and planning of investigative actions and operational search measures.
“It was a great honor to participate in an event of such a level, especially with the use of virtual equipment,” noted Renata Khazhieva. “When a university has modern devices and equipment at its disposal, which are used not only during classes but also allow participation in modern educational events, you realize that you are studying at the university of your dreams!”
Curator of the team and member of the jury of the contest from our university, associate professor of the department of forensic examinationAleksey Kopanyovbelieves that such competitions increase interest in mastering a future profession, expand the range of professional skills, develop professional thinking, and contribute to the development of skills in the virtual environment.
