New York, May 27 /Xinhua/ — A member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi met on Wednesday in New York with the head of the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs Marko Đurić.
Van I noted that the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić is going on a visit to China, which signifies the strength of bilateral relations.
Serbia became the first country to issue a joint statement with China on the assistance in implementing the Initiative on global development, the Initiative on global security, the Initiative on global civilization, and the Initiative on global governance, demonstrating the uniqueness and high level of bilateral relations, it was noted.
According to the minister, Beijing resolutely supports Serbia’s efforts to protect national sovereignty and territorial integrity and highly appreciates Belgrade’s commitment to the one-China principle.
Van I stated that the parties should prioritize the implementation of an important consensus of the heads of two states, activate exchanges at various levels, promote the Hungary-Serbia railway project, expand cooperation in areas such as artificial intelligence and new energy, strengthen coordination and cooperation within the UN framework and other platforms, and also contribute to the progress of building the China-Serbia community with a shared future in a new era.
M. Djurić noted that President A. Vučić’s trip to China is a historic state visit. According to him, the parties signed a number of documents on cooperation and outlined the course for further development of bilateral relations. Serbia highly appreciates China’s consistent support for the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and will firmly adhere to the One China principle, the minister emphasized, adding that no matter how the external situation develops, Belgrade will remain Beijing’s most reliable friend in Europe.
Serbia is ready to work with China on implementing the results of the state visit of President A. Vučić, strengthening strategic mutual trust, expanding mutually beneficial cooperation, strengthening multilateral coordination with the aim of bringing the Serbian-Chinese community with a shared destiny to a qualitatively new level, assured M.
