Beijing, May 27 /Xinhua/ — Vice Premier of the State Council of the PRC Li Keqiang called on China and Germany to strengthen the foundation of traditional cooperation and to unlock the potential for interaction in emerging sectors.

He Lifeng, also a member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, made a corresponding statement on Wednesday in Beijing at a meeting with the Minister of Economy and Energy of the FRG, Katarina Runte, and representatives of German business.

The parties exchanged views on the deepening of Sino-German trade and economic cooperation.

The Deputy Prime Minister of the State Council noted that China and Germany are important trade and economic partners for each other, and the trade and economic cooperation between them is characterized by a solid foundation, enormous potential, and a high degree of complementarity. He expressed hope that both sides will promote the sustainable and healthy development of bilateral trade and economic relations through high-level cooperation.
