Jerusalem, May 27 /Sin Hua/ — Israel announced on Wednesday that Mu’ammad Ude, recently appointed commander of the armed wing of HAMAS — the ‘Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades’ — was killed in a strike on the Gaza Strip.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced that M. Oude, whom he called the fourth-ranking official of Hamas, was killed. “We promised that Hamas would not have military or civilian control over Gaza, and so it will be,” said I. Katz.
The HAMAS movement has not yet confirmed or commented on the Israeli statement. Palestinian media reported that M. Ude died along with his wife, two sons, and daughter as a result of an airstrike in the western part of Gaza City.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on Tuesday evening that the Israeli armed forces attempted to kill M. Ude, delivering a strike on the orders of the head of government and I. Katz.
M. Ude headed the armed wing of HAMAS for about a week instead of Izzeddin al-Haddad, who died as a result of an Israeli strike on May 15. –0–
