On the All-Russian Library Day in Moscow, two new interactive spaces for children and adults opened — corners of financial literacy. They were created based on the smart library named after Anna Akhmatova and the Central City Children’s Library named after A.P. Gaidar, subordinate to the capital’sDepartment of Culture.

Financial literacy corners are permanently operating sites with modern equipment and relevant educational materials. Visitors of all ages can study the basics of financial literacy for free at a time convenient for them and receive personalized recommendations that will help improve their level of knowledge in this area.

“The new project continues the tradition of financial education in the capital’s library, which many Muscovites have already appreciated. Now, residents will have permanent spaces for self-learning within walking distance from their homes. Interactive formats, educational games and books, VR simulators, reference materials, and tests will allow knowledge acquisition to become even more visual and accessible, helping to confidently manage personal finances,” she said.

Elena Zyabbarova, Minister of the Government of Moscow, head of the capital’s Department of Finance.

The main feature of the corner is the multimedia stand “Financial Literacy Library.” With its help, you can watch videos, study educational materials, use special calculators, and play educational games. The corner also has books, booklets, brochures, and checklists on financial literacy. At the same time, the sites in each library will have their own unique features.

The financial literacy corner in the Anna Akhmatova smart library is aimed at an adult audience. It features a VR simulator with scenarios developed in collaboration with the Personnel Services Department of the Moscow Government. With its help, you can practice financial literacy skills by trying yourself in the role of a bank manager, insurance agent, or tax consultant, and also learn to recognize fraudulent schemes and protect personal data and funds.

Every guest will have the opportunity to undergo a financial “check-up”: a special tracker will allow assessing how well a person budgets, uses benefits, saves and invests, and also spends reasonably. With the help of digital calculators, it will be possible to determine the recommended amount of financial safety cushion or plan a vacation.

The financial literacy corner at the A.P. Gaidar Central City Children’s Library was created especially for young Muscovites. Here is a developing stand that in a playful form will introduce children to the basics of personal budget management. With the help of toy money, they will learn how family income and expenses are distributed, what savings are and why parents set them aside, and they will also train logic and attention in the game “Find the pair.” In addition, animated films on financial literacy, puzzles, coloring books, and board games are always available for young visitors.

Financial literacy corners are open on weekdays in libraries from 11:00 to 19:00.

The project is being implemented by capital cityDepartment of Financeand the center for financial literacy together withDepartment of Culture of the city of Moscow.
