Washington, May 26 /Xin Hua/ — Iranian enriched uranium will be destroyed in one way or another after it is transferred to the United States. This was stated on Monday on the social network Truth Social by US President Donald Trump.

“Enriched uranium/nuclear dust!/ will either be immediately transferred to the United States for delivery to our territory and destruction, or, preferably, jointly and in coordination with the Islamic Republic of Iran, will be destroyed on site or at another acceptable location, while the Atomic Energy Commission or its equivalent will monitor this process and event,” he wrote.

D. Trump did not specify the amount of enriched uranium being discussed. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) previously conducted monitoring of Iran’s nuclear activities within the framework of various inspection measures.

Earlier on Monday, the Iranian news agency Tasnim reported that Tehran did not agree to transfer nuclear materials abroad, refuting information from the Saudi news channel Al Hadath, which claimed that “Iran is ready to export highly enriched uranium from its territory.”

Tasnim stated that the channel’s report about the details of a potential agreement between Tehran and Washington does not correspond to reality. “In the text of the memorandum of understanding currently in effect, there is no statement about Iran’s readiness to remove nuclear materials. Essentially, in the memorandum, Iran has not taken on any obligations concerning nuclear activities,” the agency noted.

The Washington Post reported on Monday, citing an Iranian official, that in the first stage of a possible deal Washington will release $12 billion of frozen Iranian assets and lift the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, where mine clearance will begin.

However, according to the source, the deal does not include a nuclear agreement. –0–
