Moscow, April 3 /Sina/ — On Friday, the 109th meeting of the Economic Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) was held in Moscow. During the meeting, the preparation of documents on cooperation development until 2035 was discussed.
The Secretary-General of the CIS, Sergey Lebedev, stated that the states participating in the work of the CIS have established fairly close ties. “All documents confirming the interaction of the countries are quite deep. And this leads to the fact that we have now increased the volumes of mutual trade turnover, increased investments. Cooperation has become closer,” he said.
The Secretary General of the CIS also noted the high level of cooperation between China and the CIS countries. According to him, China is implementing large-scale innovative projects in Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Belarus, as well as in the Russian Far East. “Currently, the parties are actively discussing cooperation in the field of energy, transport, and other areas, including within the framework of the ‘Belt and Road’ initiative, with certain routes passing through the territories of CIS countries,” said S. Lebedev.
During the meeting, participants exchanged views on current issues of economic cooperation, in particular in the field of handling radioactive waste, digital transformation of the mining and metallurgical complex industries, geodesy, cartography, and geoinformation technologies.
General Secretary of the SCO Nurlan Ermekbayev participated in the meeting.
