Beijing, May 25 /Xin Hua/ — China insists that the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) remains a cornerstone of the international regime for nuclear non-proliferation and nuclear disarmament, as well as an indispensable pillar of the post-war architecture of international security, the official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Mao Ning said on Monday.
The diplomat made such a statement when at another press briefing she was asked to comment on the 11th conference on the consideration of IAEA actions, which ended without the adoption of a final document – reportedly, mainly due to disagreements between the USA and Iran.
“The Chinese side attaches great importance to the role of the treaty and advocates for its universality, effectiveness, and authority,” Mao Ning pointed out.
