At the bottom of the valley in China’s Butterfly Valley Hunshe in Cizinyin County (Hunshe-Hani-Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province), the largest mass emergence of butterflies in the last ten years occurred. Tens of thousands of butterflies emerging from cocoons circle and gather in the mountain valley, creating a mesmerizing spectacle – a “waterfall of butterflies.” Being one of the regions in the world with the richest diversity of butterfly species and resources, the Hunshe Valley every year at the end of spring – beginning of summer – demonstrates this grand natural phenomenon.
