Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University of Peter the Great was visited by a delegation from Nanjing University of Science and Technology to develop a partnership between the two universities.
A colleague from China was joined by representatives of the International Education Department of SPbPU: Deputy Head of UMO Tatyana Sytnikova and Head of the Department of International Educational Programs and Academic Mobility Olga Emelyanova.
At the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of joint projects. Special attention was paid to the expansion of academic mobility and the launch of new educational programs. Tatyana Sytnikova noted the high level of training of Chinese students and expressed readiness for further deepening of cooperation in the fields of engineering and digital technologies.
Colleagues from Nanjing met with Chinese students and graduate students studying at the Polytechnic University. Young scientists shared their experiences and success in their studies.
Guests were also introduced to the laboratory base of the Higher School of Cyberphysical Systems Management and highly appreciated the equipment of the university centers and the research potential of SPbPU.
At the same time, at the Institute of Mechanical Engineering, Materials and Transport of SPbPU, students of Nanjing University underwent intensive training as part of the international additional general educational English-language program “Advanced Materials Processing Technologies.” Participants attended a series of lectures and seminars dedicated to modern CAD/CAM/CAE systems in mechanical engineering, basics of friction stir welding, plasma arc welding technology, methods for measuring surface roughness, as well as physical and mathematical modeling.The practical part of the program included a visit to the advanced laboratory of lightweight materials and structures at SPbPU.
We are very pleased that educational cooperation with Nanjing University of Science and Technology is successfully developing. Every year, new projects and directions for joint work appear. The combination of modern technologies, practical activities, and the scientific infrastructure of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University attracts students from Nanjing both to joint bachelor’s programs and to short-term internships and summer schools.And this, of course, is an important foundation for future joint master’s programs and scientific projects, about which we are currently conducting negotiations, commented the head of the international educational programs and academic mobility department of SPbPU, Olga Emelyanova.
As a result of the visit and the organized program, the universities confirmed their intention to expand bilateral cooperation, develop joint master’s programs and scientific research, as well as increase academic exchanges of students and teachers.
