Beijing, May 21 /Xinhua/ — In April 2026, passenger traffic in China’s civil aviation sector amounted to 61.2 million person-trips, which is 0.4 percent more than the previous year, data from the Civil Aviation Administration (CAA) of China showed on Thursday.
Last month, the volume of passenger traffic on domestic airlines exceeded 54.41 million passenger trips, which turned out to be 0.2% less than a year earlier, while on international airlines this figure reached almost 6.79 million passenger trips with an increase of 5.8% in annual terms.
Data also showed that during the reporting period, the volume of cargo and mail shipments by airplanes in the specified sector totaled 854 thousand tons, which turned out to be 6.9% more than in April of the previous year.
In the breakdown, the volume of cargo and mail shipments transported on domestic air routes reached 456 thousand tons, an increase of 2.1 percent compared to the previous year, while on international routes this indicator amounted to 398 thousand tons, increasing by 12.9 percent compared to April 2025. -0-
