The first medal awarding ceremony for the “Outstanding Foreign Diplomat” took place on May 18 in Beijing. This award was specially established by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China to honor foreign diplomats who have made significant contributions to the development of friendly relations between China and other countries.
The first to obtain it were: former Russian ambassador to China Andrey Denisov, former Cambodian ambassador to China Hek Kaimel Sisowda, Pakistan’s ambassador to China Khalil-ur-Rahman Hashmi, Kazakhstan’s ambassador to China Sharshrat Nuryishev, Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to China Abdulrahman Al-Kharbi, former ambassador of Chad to China Allamaye Halin, Colombia’s ambassador to China Sergio Cabrera, and former ambassador of Uruguay to China Fernando Lugris.
Former Russian ambassador to China Andrei Denisov said that upon learning about his nomination to receive this medal, he felt immense joy, excitement, and gratitude. “My long diplomatic career passed before my eyes, like scenes from a movie.”
Since the 1970s, Denisov has worked in China for a total of more than 20 years. During the period from 2013 to 2022, holding the position of Russian envoy to China, he witnessed an extraordinary path of development in the relationship between the two countries in the new era. “You could say that I am a native Beijinger, having lived in Beijing for more than twenty years, and every time I come here, it feels like coming home.”
Currently, the eternal all-encompassing strategic partnership between China and Kazakhstan continues to advance to a new level. Kazakh Ambassador to China Sharat Nuryshov noted that throughout his 30-year professional career, it was closely linked with China, and he was fortunate to directly participate in important events related to strengthening political mutual trust, promoting practical cooperation, and deepening cultural and humanitarian exchanges between the two countries.
Pakistan’s ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, stated that China leads in the field of technological and social development, and also proposes long-term approaches to global governance, which reflect the initiative put forward by China and its vision of global development. Most importantly, China is capable of bringing such much-needed stability and constructive energy to the international community.
