Beijing, May 22 /Xinhua/ — China is ready to work with Moldova to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation for the welfare of the peoples of the two countries. This was stated on Thursday by a member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, China’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi during negotiations with Moldova’s Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Nicu Popșoi in Beijing.
Noting that China and Moldova are friendly partners, Van Yi added that China cherishes the traditional friendship between the two countries and is ready, together with Moldova, to further strengthen mutual trust, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, give impetus to the development of bilateral relations, and create benefits for the peoples of both countries.

“We value Moldova’s commitment to the correct position on issues concerning China’s core interests, support Moldova on the path of development chosen by its people and consistent with its national conditions, and welcome a broader participation of Moldova in the high-quality joint construction of the ‘Belt and Road'” – said Van I.
He called on both sides to expand economic and trade ties, strengthen cooperation in emerging sectors such as green energy and the digital economy, as well as to activate exchanges in the fields of education, culture, tourism, and youth contacts.
Both sides must jointly implement four global initiatives and protect the legal rights and interests of numerous developing countries, Van I. added.
M. Popshoy, in turn, stated that Moldova attaches great importance to the development of relations with China and highly values China’s leading role in international affairs.
Moldova is firmly committed to the principle of one China and hopes to strengthen mutually beneficial partnership with it, noted M. Popșoi, adding that Moldova is ready for close interaction with China on a multilateral platform, including the United Nations, to jointly uphold multilateralism and the rule of law in the international arena.
During the course of the negotiations, the parties also exchanged views on the Ukrainian crisis. Van I confirmed China’s position, ready to continue playing a constructive role in achieving its resolution through political means.
