Beijing, May 21 /Xinhua/ — In January-April 2026, 1,903 trains passed through the railway Customs Point Manzhouli of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region /Northern China/, running on the routes of international cargo transportation China-Europe, with the volume of cargo transported by them reaching 191 thousand standard containers /TEU/. Both indicators increased by 35.8 and 32 percent respectively in annual terms, according to a statement published on the website of the Manzhouli city government.

To facilitate effective customs clearance for China-Europe trains, the local customs service continues to make efforts to improve service and increase the efficiency of its work. Regularly visiting railway stations and foreign trade enterprises, customs officers actively assist them in resolving arising problems. In addition, the local customs has implemented the “China-Europe train plus express customs clearance” work model, which facilitates the immediate dispatch of goods upon arrival and significantly reduces the time needed for customs clearance of goods.

“Our customs will continue to fully utilize the geographical advantages of the border area, constantly deepen the reform of the customs clearance model, improve intellectual control measures, strengthen coordination and cooperation with other departments, and also put in every effort to ensure the uninterrupted functioning of international logistics channels between Asia and Europe and facilitate the effective organization of the China-Europe train traffic,” the Manzhouli Customs Service reported.

According to statistical data from the Manzhouli Customs, in 2025, 4,867 China-Europe trains passed through the Manzhouli railway border checkpoint, and the volume of cargo transported amounted to 506 thousand TEU. Both indicators increased by 11.2% and 8.6% respectively in annual terms.

Currently, cargo train routes China-Europe, passing through the Manzhouli Customs, cover more than 10 European countries, including Russia, Poland, and Belgium, as well as dozens of Chinese cities, including Harbin, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. The range of goods transported by these trains includes items such as everyday clothing, electronic products, automobiles, and edible oils.At the same time, there is a trend of stable growth in the share of products with high added value and high technology, which contributes to the stability and modernization of production chains and supply chains in Asia and Europe.
