Beijing, May 21 /Xin Hua/ — Law enforcement agencies of China and the USA have jointly uncovered a transnational criminal case related to the illegal trafficking of new psychoactive substances, the Ministry of Public Security /MPS/ of the PRC reported on Thursday.

According to the above-mentioned ministry, in 2024 the Office for Combating Illegal Drug Trafficking of the MOA CNR and the Office for Combating Drugs of the U.S. Department of Justice began a joint investigation of this case.

In February 2026, the police of the northern Chinese city of Tianjin, based on evidence provided by the American side, detained a suspect by the surname Gun. Earlier, American authorities had arrested a U.S. citizen involved in the same case in the state of Georgia.

The successful disclosure of this case attests to the institutionalized functioning of Chinese-American cooperation between law enforcement agencies in the fight against drugs and represents another practical result of the coordinated efforts of the two sides to combat cross-border crime, the Ministry of Public Security stated.

This also demonstrates the firm stance of the law enforcement agencies of both countries, which do not tolerate drug crimes and related transnational unlawful acts, the department added. -0-
