Tehran, May 21 /Xin Hua/ — Official representative of the Iranian Foreign Ministry Esmail Bagai stated on Wednesday that the exchange of messages between Iran and the United States continues through the mediation of Pakistan, and Tehran is studying the latest proposals from the American side.

In an interview with the state channel IRIB, E. Bagai said that the exchange of messages took place several times, noting that the purpose of the visit of Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mosina Naqvi to Tehran on Wednesday is to facilitate the exchange and provide clarifications on project proposals exchanged by the parties.

According to him, Iran is focused on ending the war on all fronts, including Lebanon, with clear demands, among which are the thawing of Iranian assets, the cessation of “maritime piracy” by the USA, and the end of hostile actions against the Iranian shipping fleet.

He added that Iran entered the diplomatic process with goodwill and seriousness, but regards Washington with deep distrust due to its “very bad” watch list over the past 18 months.

E. Bagai stated that Iran, in cooperation with Oman, seeks to create a mechanism guaranteeing “strong security” in the Strait of Hormuz, and is ready to develop protocols for safe maritime traffic along this waterway in coordination with other coastal states.

Referring to a source close to the Iranian negotiating team, the semi-official news agency Tasnim reported that Washington sent Tehran a new proposal project through Pakistan after Tehran presented its 14-point plan three days ago.

Currently, the mediator is in Tehran, trying to bring the projects of the two parties closer together, but, according to the source, nothing has been completed yet.

Also on Wednesday, the President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, stated on the social network X that Iran consistently fulfills its obligations and strives to prevent war.

“All routes remain open on our side. Forcing Iran to capitulate through violence is nothing but an illusion,” emphasized M. Pezeshkian. –0–
