Tashkent, May 20 /Xin Hua/ — Uzbekistan intends to become the main IT hub of Central Asia by developing infrastructure, supporting business, and implementing artificial intelligence. This was stated by the country’s Minister of Digital Technologies, Sherzod Shermatov, speaking at the international forum M360 Eurasia 2026 in the Uzbek city of Samarkand.

Sh. Shermatov emphasized that tax incentives are in place to attract IT companies to the country, and a new system for business regulation is also being prepared.

He noted that Uzbekistan ranked 9th in the World Bank GovTech Maturity Index, and said that currently the country is actively implementing a strategy for the period up to 2030, aimed at eliminating bureaucratic barriers and optimizing administrative procedures for businesses.

The minister emphasized that special attention is paid to education: in particular, within the framework of the “5 million AI leaders” program, more than 1 million young specialists have already been trained in the country.
