Dushanbe, May 20 /Xin Hua/ — The President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, on Tuesday took part in a solemn ceremony of placing a capsule with earth from the burial sites of Tajikistan’s heroes Nusratullo Mas’sum and Shirinscho Shotemur, as well as a prominent cultural figure Nisor Muhammada.

As reported by the Khovar news agency, the ceremony took place at Dushanbe International Airport. Honor guards with special honors carried out of the plane a capsule with earth from the crash site of prominent representatives of the Tajik people and solemnly, to the sounds of a ceremonial march, delivered it to the airport hall.

As Emomali Rahmon noted, Nusratullo Maksum and Shirinsho Shotemur are considered among the founders of the modern Tajik statehood; they made a significant contribution to the protection of national interests, defining administrative borders, and the creation of Tajikistan.

After the ceremony, the participants of the event, accompanied by an honorary escort, headed to the Central Juma Mosque of Dushanbe. Later, a ceremony honoring the heroes will take place at the Luchob cemetery, observing religious traditions and state honors.

Revival of historical memory, honoring the outstanding sons of the nation, and strengthening national self-awareness have become one of the most important directions of the state policy of Tajikistan. The participation of the head of state in the ceremony was a testament to the high respect for national history and culture.
